Academic Societies

September 17, 2018

In this post you will find the links for the main websites of major scientific societies around the world:

The International Economics and Finance Society (IEFS), an international organization of academic and professional economists with general interest in international economics, particularly international trade and international finance.

The Society is an associate member of the Allied Social Science Association (ASSA), and our annual meetings are currently held in the context of the annual ASSA – American Economic Association (AEA) winter meetings. We sponsor sessions in the ASSA-AEA winter meetings and at regional conferences like the Southern Economics Association, the Eastern Economics Association, and the Western Economics Association annual meetings.

We have several hundred members throughout the world, with regional groupings in China, Europe, Japan, the USA.

The Economic History Society exists to support research and teaching in economic and social history, broadly defined. It does this through publications, including the Economic History Review and a range of textbooks and study packs, through conferences and workshops, through the finance of research fellowships and research grants, and through bursaries and prizes for younger scholars.

The Economic History Association was founded in 1940. Its purpose is to encourage and promote teaching, research, and publication on every phase of economic history, broadly defined, and to encourage and assist in the preservation and administration of the materials for research in economic history. The Association publishes The Journal of Economic History and a Newsletter, and holds an annual meeting (usually in September).

The Society seeks to promote the use of nonlinear methods in economics and finance from both a theoretical and empirical perspective.

The aim of the Association is to advance the education of the public in the subject of econometrics and its applications to a variety of fields in economics, in particular, but not exclusively, by advancing and supporting research in that field, and disseminating the results of such useful research to the public.

Once composed primarily of college and university professors in economics, the American Economic Association(AEA) now attracts 20,000+ members from academe, business, government, and consulting groups within diverse disciplines from multi-cultural backgrounds. All are professionals or graduate-level students dedicated to economics research and teaching.

The Royal Economic Society is one of the oldest and most prestigious economic associations in the world. It is a learned society, founded in 1890 with the aim “to promote the study of economic science.” Initially called the British Economic Association, it became the Royal Economic Society on receiving its Royal Charter in 1902.
